wUnderGlow - Neat Gadget to Improve Wheelchair Safety
May 18th, 20103 months ago, I heard about a new gadget that could improve safety for wheelchair users at night by improving their visibility - wUnderGlow. wUnderGlow is a tiny light that clips anywhere you want on your wheelchair. It is quite powerful for something that tiny. I immediately thought it would be something that could be useful when I'm stuck crossing parking lots in the dark.

If you aren't aware of the show, the main character resolves crimes by using his really rather acute sense of observation (not unlike Sherlock Holmes!). November 10th, 2009I nearly killed myself this afternoon. Newish construction, flight of 4 steps, all concrete. But between the sun, and the angle I'm at, sitting in a wheelchair, I didn't see they were steps until I was nearly falling down these steps! I'm thinking, someone who has vision impairment would have had even more trouble than me seeing the steps.

July 26th, 2009It's an outrage. The car of a wheelchair-bound woman was clamped, not once, but TWICE, reports the Waikato Times. Apparently the first time, the permit had fallen off the dashboard. This time, she left home with an expired permit by mistake. Her vehicle was clamped and she apparently had difficulties getting the clamped removed. It is indeed an outrage. I am a wheelchair user, and you might be surprised to hear I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for Mrs Adams.
