There are a few issues where a university's claimed copyright create barriers to students with disabilities. As a New Zealand student myself, I was refused course material in electronic format. Today, I heard that some United Kingdom universities refuse to allow students to do audio recording of the lectures because of "copyright".

Why I Issued A DMCA Takedown Notice To Facebook

One of my photos has been posted on Facebook, and while I'm happy people are enjoying the photo, and that it allowed me to reconnect with some long lost friends (or just misplaced perhaps?), I have had to make a formal request to Facebook for the photo to be taken down, due to copyright violation. And that makes me rather unhappy.

S92a, Recording Industry and Hypocrisy Impacting on People With Disabilities

This post isn't, strictly speaking, about accessibility. That is, it isn't directly about web accessibility for people with disabilities. But the issues at play most certainly may have a significant impact on people with disabilities if they come to pass. I am going to talk about New Zealand Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act 2008 , and specifically §92a.
