Jack Kevorkian Dies at Age 83

The Atlantic Wire reports that Jack Kevorkian died today. I have mixed feelings on Dr. Death's end. I cannot rejoice that a man has died. Yet, I will rest easier now that a mass murderer cannot advocate killing of people with disabilities.

Disability Humour Is Part Of Disability Culture

Disability humour is part and parcel of disability culture. If you tell me that I shouldn't make disability jokes in public, you're telling me that it's not ok for me to be who and what I am as a person with a disability. You are trying to stuff me back in the closet that we (people with disabilities) fought so hard to get out of.

Poaching The Only Accessible Toilet

Yesterday, I waited several minutes before being able to get into the only accessible toilet in the building. Someone was already in there. The person was getting changed - she did not have a disability.

NZ Labour Billboard Website Not Accessible

The Labour Party in New Zealand has a "Make your own billboard" website. This is apparently en effort to get people involved and a start campaigning for the upcoming elections. Except that the website is not accessible to many people with disabilities. Or people using smartphones.
